If you go to watch this anime Be WARNED it is a 4kids production, the voice acting is not good though not the worst, I have heard from them (ONE PIECE). The theme is translated … this is usually a bad thing, but frankly the translated song is good. They could have and have done much worst (ONE PIECE), but it is catchy and doesn’t cause a lot of fan Erkage from me. Although I still recommend checking out the opening theme and end theme for this anime in the original language. This anime holds many themes of friendship, trust, and forgiveness, it does these lesson decently (remember it is for kids) and because of the way our main character Yoh is they are believable, within the methos.
This is was a little blast from the past for me. The voice acting is not great but I have heard worst, if you go in knowing that you can really laugh it off. The characters are sweet and memorable, Rio with his weird “Perfectly quwaft” hair, which gets nothing more than a beating and style change throughout the show. Morty other wise known as Shorty by Anna you at first think is going to be useless, but as we travel with him and these shaman we don’t see him get jealous of their powers, but instead see his own good qualities. This show also has by far one of my top 10 favorite anime girls.
Anna is nothing short of a puzzle, she comes off as a *itch at first bossing around our main character Yoh; but it is clear that she cares for him and she wants him to live through this. She knows more than him and is/was basically trained to train shaman. I am reminded of one scene we see her scaring the pants off of Yoh with her cool collected voice, and strong stance so that he runs farther and longer than previous times. Next time we cut back to her, she is picking up the groceries (she normally gets them to go and get them) and she is also complaining about them not having Yoh’s favorite, something (I believe it was some sort of dessert/sweet). She speaks in riddles hoping that others understand that she is not as cold as she seems, she truly believes in Yoh and does everything she can to support him in his goal (which is ultimately hers). She is not some squeeing fan girl of Yoh’s, she genueinly cares about him in a way that is true and meaningful, and not writing her and his name over and over in a notebook like other anime girls with a crush.
If you go to watch this anime Be WARNED there is CHEESE, there are characters with weird voices, hearing the line “it’s because of our friendship” may get old. But the methos of the world is interesting, the characters (past the voices) are fun and enjoyable, and “it’s because of our friendship” can be exciting. I recommend this for young kids (8-12) hands down, Teens go ahead and watch this it may remind you about the good in humans and how you can find friends even in your enemies, if you can forgive. Adults may want to stay away from this one, (if cheese isn’t your thing), but if you are anything like me and re-watching an anime from your past you already know what you are getting into.
